For a few years now, I’ve own a domain I did very little with (brittbot.com). Well, on May 13, 2020 I decided to do much more with the domain by buying web hosting and installing WordPress on it. So who is Brittbot? What is it? Let me explain.
Who Is Brittbot?
Back in early 2017 I worked at a startup doing a combination of things: Tech support for our customers, various WordPress stuff (creating / updating websites, creating WordPress templates, etc.), writing documentation, things like that. Once I understand how to do a task, I get right on it and complete it quickly. That’s just who I am. As of a result of that, one of my coworkers said I was like a robot. Then another coworker called me “Brittbot.” From there, the nickname stuck.
One day after after work, I got the bright idea to buy the domain. I’m wasn’t sure what I was going to use it for but domains are cheap so it didn’t matter. So I went to my favorite domain registrar, Namecheap, and bought the domain.
What Will Become Of Brittbot?
The new website is the other part of my move to self-employment. I wrote previously about how to start a side-business while working a full-time job. I also have a goal of becoming self-employed again so I can devote more time to projects and passions, create my own hours, and make the money I want to make. To do so, I started writing ebooks again late last year and I redesigned this website / blog. The next step is to develop brittbot.com into a website creation service for small businesses.
I helped individuals, freelancers, and small businesses with their websites in the past. I still offer advice and suggestions now, but not as much since my time is limited. So I have experience doing this and I quite enjoy it. I would like to do this full-time because many people still need help creating or upgrading their websites, need advice about SEO, and need tech support.
Hence, turning brittbot.com into a new business venture.
The Release Date
I will release brittbot.com on June 1, 2020. That date gives me enough time to develop the site, work on the layout, develop blogs posts, and create the necessary content.
I will release the website in stages. Version 1.0 will showcase tips and tricks for small businesses to use on developing their website, building their brand, writing content, things like that. That version will run for a few months before I upgrade it.
Version 2.0 will see blog post creation services from me. Meaning an individual or a company can buy blog posts for their website so they can attach their name to it. When this service will be available I’m not so sure of as of yet. My day-job informed me that we will have a very busy Summer, which means I may have to work overtime.
Finally, Version 3.0 will be release in 2nd quarter of 2021. There is a reason why for this that I can’t talk about just yet. Just know that I’m making plans for next year right now which will take some time. With this version, I will offer WordPress website creation and hosting services for small businesses. I will create and maintain their websites and/or blogs, provide tech support for it, and offer consultation services along with training.
