don't be ruled by money

Don’t Be Ruled By Money

I had a conversation with a coworker recently regarding money. He believes that Americans will do anything to be rich, basically. Meaning they will chase the hottest stocks, play the lottery, trade Forex, etc. I was blunt in my response to my coworker. I told him I believe he’s the one consumed with money since he talks about it all the time. Don’t be like my coworker and don’t be ruled by money. It is a harsh and unrelenting master.

Don’t Be Ruled By Money And Keep Your Dignity

I wrote before on my blog about how anything you say or do is recorded forever on the Internet. I bring up this point because many people around the world sell their dignity to make a dollar.

Websites like OnlyFans allow men and women to sell their bodies for a monthly fee. If selling your nudes or “spicy” videos is too much for you, and you want to become an influencer instead, then TikTok is the top app for that right now. You can do something stupid or play a dumb prank to go viral. Hopefully what you do doesn’t land you in jail unlike those idiots who licked ice cream in various grocery stores last year.

Yet, people continue to flock to these sites and apps to make a quick buck. And I don’t understand how they can sell their bodies and forgo any dignity they had.

Don’t Be Ruled By Money And Keep Your Freedom

Money is a harsh and unrelenting master. Why? Once you become under its control, you have to do anything and everything to keep the master happy.

I know people who constantly work overtime because they love money. They also love living way above their financial means, which is the reason why they need to work constant overtime.

Then there are the individuals who want to make more money. I currently know a few of those too. They make a very good living right now but they just want more money. Again, it has to do with buying more things and living the life they want to live.

Yet, what these people don’t understand is that they are under money’s control. They will do its bidding. So if that requires working constant overtime, then so be it. If they have to forgot working on a personal project or spending time with their families then that’s the way it has to be. Eventually these people will discover they have no freedom in their lives. And that’s no way to live.

You Rule Money. Here’s How:

Today’s world requires money. There’s no way around that. However, that doesn’t mean you are powerless around it. Oh no, you rule money and here’s how:

  • You make your money work for you.
  • Understand money does not determine your worth.
  • Use money wisely to improve and enjoy your life.

The best way to make your money work for you is to invest into something you understand. If that’s stocks, then invest in stock. Some people prefer real estate. Then there are those who are passionate about digital currency. Now, if you’re unsure of what to invest your money in then save it in high-yield savings account until you find the investment vehicle that works for you. That way you still earn interest on your money.

Next, understand that money doesn’t determine your worth. In today’s world we equate wealth with goodness or success. Yet, there are wealthy people who are pitiful individuals or hurt others. Your self-esteem and self-worth isn’t based on the amount of money you make or have.

Finally, use your money to improve your life and enjoy it. I like to barbecue and it brings me great enjoyment. Because of that I spent some of my money to buy a great charcoal grill and good meats. I’m currently improving my Web Development skills. Find what you want to learn and what brings you enjoyment and spend money on that.

I see people all the time who are emotionally obsessed with the trappings of money. They always want bling, the newest gadget or the fanciest car. They take on high monthly payments they cannot afford. People need to use and re-use their belongings in an environmentally responsible manner. I have some clothing items that I‘ve been wearing for literally decades that I still like. Consumerism is not the key to happiness. Try doing one tiny gift exchange at Christmas for years for anyone over 16.
